Pioneer Koelnmesse: During the UFI Global Congress 2024, Koelnmesse GmbH became the first German trade fair company to officially receive certification for Event Sustainability Management according to the ISO Standard 20121:2024 from TÜV Rheinland. Koelnmesse CEO Gerald Böse personally accepted the certificate from Markus Dohm, Executive Vice President of TÜV Rheinland.

Pioneer Koelnmesse: As part of a groundbreaking pilot project, Koelnmesse GmbH, in partnership with energy provider E.ON, is transitioning of the entire trade fair site's heat supply to fossil-free geothermal energy by 2028. The first drilling operations began in November.

Pioneer Koelnmesse: Centrally located in Cologne and in the heart of Europe is Germany’s third-largest exhibition centre and one of the ten largest worldwide. Koelnmesse GmbH has set itself ambitious sustainability targets, aiming for its operations and events to be climate-neutral by 2030.
Pioneer Koelnmesse: Koelnmesse significantly reduces waste volumes, for example, through predefined stand construction. By 2030, 80 per cent of these stands will be made using reusable materials, and all flooring will be fully recycled.
Since 2024, Koelnmesse's very own bee colonies have been contributing to biodiversity while also producing delicious urban honey.
Pioneer Koelnmesse: In 2023, Koelnmesse opened Germany’s first entirely vegan trade fair restaurant on its exhibition grounds. Starting in 2025, Anuga will also feature Anuga Alternatives, a dedicated trade fair for alternative proteins.
Sustainability at Koelnmesse: By further reducing paved areas and introducing as much natural greenery as possible to its trade fair grounds, Koelnmesse aims to enhance biodiversity in Cologne.
Koelnmesse encourages its employees to adopt climate-conscious commuting habits, for example, through subsidised Deutschlandtickets (Germany’s nationwide public transport subscription pass), bike leasing, and group activities.
Pioneer Koelnmesse: With smart logistics and traffic management, Koelnmesse significantly reduces congestion and CO2 emissions. It is also continuing to invest in stationary and mobile EV charging stations.
